How do you guys travel with your audio gear on planes?

Hello all,

Planning trip to Asia, wondering what any of you guys might do for travelling with audio gear on long flights. I am using a focusrite interface, mic , headphones, cables, mini controller and a laptop, external hd. etc..

How do you guys go about packing your soundcard? Do you put it in a padded case? I'm sure most of you also check in your gear? I will be carrying on my laptop and a mini controller... and checking the rest...

let me know what suggestions or experience you might have....
